Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves injecting a special solution (called a sclerosant) directly into the thread veins. This causes irritation to the vein lining, making the vein walls stick together and collapse. Over time, the body naturally breaks down and absorbs the closed vein, causing it to fade from view.
How it works
• The sclerosant solution is injected into the targeted veins using a fine needle.
• The solution irritates the lining of the vein, prompting it to collapse and seal shut.
• Blood is naturally rerouted through healthier veins.
• The treated vein is gradually absorbed by the body over the following weeks, reducing its visibility.
• Since the root cause may still be present (e.g., pressure in the leg veins), additional thread veins may form over time and require future treatment.
What to expect from Sclerotherapy:
• Multiple treatments may be needed for best results, depending on the size and number of veins.
• Gradual results, with visible improvement typically seen around 6 weeks post-treatment.
• Each session takes approximately 30–45 minutes.
• There is little to no downtime—you can resume normal daily activities shortly after treatment.
